Senior R&D Engineer
Engenious has opportunities for an experienced Senior R&D Engineer to join our innovative design team, specializing in medical device and other advanced technology development. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in electromechanical systems testing within regulated industries. We’re seeking an individual who enjoys solving tough technical problems and also getting hands-on with the work.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and executing rigorous, evidence-based test strategies to ensure the safety, performance and compliance of systems. As a key member of our team, you’ll collaborate closely with engineers and designers while also overseeing and mentoring peers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the testing of complex electronic and mechanical systems and subsystems
- Collaborate closely with the design team to plan and direct hardware testing; ad-hoc engineering through formal verification and validation
- Contribute to requirements development and review with a focus on testability
- Write and review test protocols based on written requirements
- Provide mentorship for test planning and execution, sharing knowledge of industry best practices for test techniques and methods
- Review the design of fixtures for test and manufacturing
- Provide sophisticated data analysis to effectively communicate test results to a wide audience of stakeholders
- Conduct test method validations when needed to ensure a high degree of quality
- Provide critical design feedback to the project team based on insights gleaned through testing.
- Assist with root cause analysis of anomalies discovered during testing
- Efficiently organize tasks and priorities. Clearly communicate progress and test status. Contribute to planning schedule adjustments as needed

POSITION DETAILS:
This is a full-time, permanent position. This position works from our Kansas City based office during core business hours.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7+ years of testing experience in a regulated industry
- Proficiency with a range of electrical and mechanical sensors and test instruments
- Proficiency with data acquisition systems and data processing
- Strong grasp of mechanical and electrical engineering fundamentals
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience mentoring engineers and technicians
- Experience in the Medical Device Industry
- Experience with acoustic testing
- Statistics certification
- Minitab experience
